…Congratulates Sanwo-Olu On Timely Issuance

A pro-democracy advocacy organization, Nigeria Peace Advocacy Group, NPAG, has tasked the Lagos State Ministry of Justice under the supervision of the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, to immediately do the needful on the 26 out of 28 accepted recommendations of the panel on the White Paper on the Ikoyi collapsed skyscrapper.

The group made the call at the weekend through its leader, Comrade Omolola Olukayode, while making remarks on the prompt release of the White Paper by the Tayo Ayinde-led panel set up by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to work on the project, urging the commissioner to put in place measures to implement the accepted recommendations to prevent a reoccurrence of the circumstances that led to the unfortunate incident.

While congratulating Governor Sanwo-Olu on the timely issuance of the White Paper, Omolola reasoned that the prompt release of the vital document would allow the governor to act swiftly so that those who were either involved or affected in the sad incident would get justice, because justice delay is justice denied.

Comrade Olukayode said, “It is also gratifying to note that, the Lagos State government has taken the bull by the horns in accepting almost all the recommendations of the Tayo Ayinde-led panel, which investigated the collapse of the 21-storey building in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State on the 1st of November, 2021. Governor Sanwo-Olu also deserves a pat on the back for the courage and sincerity of purpose his administration exhibited in setting up the panel of technocrats to investigate the unfortunate incident.

“We are of the strong belief that the timely release of the White Paper on the recommendations will go a long way in dispensing justice to the dead and the survivors of the sad occurrence. Again, accepting in whole 26 of the 28 recommendations by Sanwo-Olu is another testimony of his team’s high-level of respect and consideration for the sanctity of human lives, which is praiseworthy and worthy of emulation by others across the country.”

Concluding, Omolola therefore said that “against the foregoing, there is the need to express the need to double support for the governor and his team in the onerous challenge of building a mega city of world standard.”

The group further asserted that “Sanwo-Olu has so much engraved his signature in the sand of time as far as good governance is concerned, which has sort of made his return for a second term in office a forgone conclusion.”
