The Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc., IBEDC, has said it would commence investigation to unravel the remote and immediate causes of the electrical accident that led to the death of a commercial motorcyclist and his passenger in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
It was learnt that the okada rider, Mr. Oladeji Olatunji Kango, and his passenger, Mrs. Kemi Adegoke, died as a result of an electrical accident that happened along Iwo/Adogba Road, Ibadan on Thursday, while they were in transit to other parts of the city.
It was further gathered that the okada rider, while trying to beat traffic, stopped at a point for the road to clear before proceeding on the journey when the electrical wires fell on them and resulted in their death.
While expressing shock at the tragedy, the IBEDC, in a statement made available to journalists on Saturday, said it would get to the root of the matter in a bid to avert a repeat of such incident.
The Chief Operating Officer of the distribution company, Mr. John Ayodele, in the statement, added that they were working in concert with families of the deceased to give them succour.
The statement reads in part, “The management of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company Plc. hereby deeply commiserates with the families of Mr Oladeji Olatunji Kango and Mrs Kemi Adegoke, who died as a result of an electrical accident that happened along Iwo/Adogba Road, Oyo State.
