The Polytechnic, Ibadan branch of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, NASU, on Monday, November 21, honoured its branch chairman, Comrade Ibrahim Adekunle Akande, during a lecture to mark its 2022 week, to mark his birthday and celebrate with him.
It was a surprise birthday party for Comrade Akande, whose second tenure as the chairman of Ibadan Polytechnic is on the last lap.
It was encomiums galore for the erudite and fearless unionist from all and sundry, as he was eulogized for the landmark achievements he had to his credit as the leader of Ibadan Polytechnic NASU.
Representative of the national NASU, Comrade Bayo Opasina, in his tribute to Comrade Akande praised his innovative mind and resilience,which he said led to his success in office as chairman, the Polytechnic, Ibadan chapter.
He said that even though, he was not initially penciled to lead Ibadan Polytechnic NASU, his ascension to the office was a divine arrangement, which God used to elevate Ibadna Polytechnic NASU to greater heights.
Every speaker at the birthday bash were full of praises and encomiums for Comrade Akande, who they said is responsible for most of the largesse and welfare members of the institution’s chapter of NASU are currently enjoying.
Highlight of the birthday celebration was the cutting of the birthday cake, after which group photographs by members of NASU with their chairman followed.
Individually and as an association, they all wished their chairman, Comrade Akande happy birthday and many happy returns!
