The member of the House of Representatives, representing Oluyole federal constituency, Hon Tolulope Akande-Sadipe, has cleared hospital bills of a constituent, Mr. Kunle Olanite, who is suffering from glaucoma.
Akande-Sadipe’s gesture was received with applause from members of her constituency, during a presentation ceremony on Wednesday in Ibadan.
At the event, Akande-Sadipe also empowered two physically challenged constituents, with cash grants and a chest freezer.
The lawmaker empowered Mrs. Muyibat Babalola, who is visually impaired, with a business start-up grant, while Mr. Tella Ademola, a mobility impaired constituent, received a chest freezer.
In a statement by her media aide, Olamilekan Olusada, which was made available to ComoassNG, Hon. Akande-Sadipe, who chairs the House Committee on Diaspora Affairs said that she offered Mr. Kunle Olanite funds for his medical treatment and surgical intervention on a diagnosed glaucoma/tetinal damage.
She said, “This award was given in reference to the medical report obtained from the Oyo State Hospital Management Board. Everybody needs sight for a fruitful existence and where we can prevent sight loss we must support our fellow mankind.”
While wishing the patient a speedy recovery, Akande-Sadipe equally urged him to make use of the grant exactly for the purpose for which it is meant.
Responding on behalf of the recipients, a relative of the patient, Mrs. Romoke Olanike, said that Akande-Sadipe’s gesture is laced with spiritual connotation.
She said that when a woman with milk of human kindness practically demonstrates it, it should not be mistaken for politics.
