In the bid to enhance police effectiveness by providing a conducive environment for the men and officers of the Nigeria Police Force, the member of the House of Representatives, representing Akoko South-East/South-West federal constituency, Hon Ade Adeogun, has facilitated the construction of Police Barracks in Oka Akoko, the Akoko South-West Local Governments headquarters.
Hon Adeogun did this bearing in mind that the primary responsibility of any government is to ensure the safety of lives and properties of the citizens and also realizing that this responsibility of government can only be carried out if those saddled with such important duty are properly enhanced in order to discharge their duties.
A statement signed by the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Hon Adeogun, Sunday Olugbenga Abire, and made available to the media stated that apart from adequate training and retraining of security officers, a conducive environment is a necessary fillip to excellent discharge of security responsibilities.
The statement further averred that the barracks is expected to solve the problem of accommodation faced by police officers in Oka-Akoko; and to also ensure that men and officers of the NPF are in the right frame of mind to do their job, enhance availability, as well as reduce the risk of exposing them to criminal elements in the society.
In a related development, completion of Ifira-Akoko Police Station, in Akoko South-East Local Government Area and the renovation of Akungba-Akoko Police Station in Akoko South-West Local Government Area are parts of the interventions by Hon Adeogun, already captured in the 2022 budget to ensure that police officers are encouraged to do their job without stress.
Hon Adeogun enthused that the safety of our people remains a paramount concern and God will never leave us stranded at anytime.
