A pan-Lagos non-governmental organization, NGO, Egbe Omoluabi Eko, EGBE, having monitored the Lagos State governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s efforts at developing the state, has declared that “the governor is walking his talk, and therefore deserves commendation, support and co-operation.”

Speaking through its Leader, Comrade Ibrahim Ekundayo, in an exclusive chat with our reporter, EGBE disclosed that Sanwo-Olu has not disappointed the NGO in the assured commitment of his administration to retain and maintain the real identity of Lagos, even with some unforeseen circumstances that are creeping in at different intervals.

Ekundayo mentioned as examples of the unforeseen circumstances to include the COVID-19 pandemic and the #EndSARS protests, which he said Sanwo-Olu handled without losing focus on the onerous task of building the state and moving it to an enviable height, saying that it would take only an administrator with the Midas touch to scale through such upheavals without losing focus.

Also commending the Sanwo-Olu administration for not neglecting the real identity of Lagos that makes it the real Centre of Excellence and State of Aquatic Splendour, Ekundayo observed that the pace at which the governor is operating, the Mega City status of Lagos would be so manifest that nobody would be able to doubt his ability to transform the state as he has promised during the electioneering last year.

Ekundayo also expressed happiness that Governor Sanwo-Olu has never neglected any sector in his daily performance, reminding of his efforts in various sectors of the economy like transportation, sports, education, health and security and creative industry among others.

The highly impressed activist expressed the delight over Sanwo-Olu’s assurance that he would not relent in his efforts to make the creative industry, as well as entertainment and tourism thrive in the state in his administration’s commitment to the actualisation of the six pillars of development, tagged T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda for Greater Lagos.

Recall that Sanwo-Olu repeated the assurance recently during the remodelling of Glover Memorial Hall in Lagos Island, which reflected the determination of his administration to rebuild Lagos as well as promote the entertainment and tourism sectors.

Ekundayo quoted the governor as saying that “The completion and formal commissioning of the remodelled Glover Memorial Hall reflects our determination to rebuild Lagos, revamp our historic/public assets and also develop the entertainment, creative, and tourism sectors, which is one of the pillars of our T.H.E.M.E.S Agenda.

“Our administration is mindful of the fact that the tourism and entertainment sector is an integral part of socio-economic development, and the overall wellbeing of our citizens, which is why this sector will not be neglected in our drive to make Lagos a megacity. We are committed to innovatively seek ways of providing the enabling environment for the tourism and entertainment sector to thrive.

“Today’s event signals a gradual return of activities within the tourism and entertainment sectors. It is a boost for our creative practitioners and entertainers, as well as the necessary catalyst for economic growth, because if we properly harness our human and capital resources, tourism and entertainment will become major contributors to socio-economic growth and development.”

Against this backdrop, the leader of EGBE therefore enjoin the generality of the people, irrespective of their political leanings, ethnic affiliations or religious biases, “to double their support for the workaholic governor, with a view to encouraging him to do more for the benefit of all.”
