The chairman of the Federal Government’s Special Public Works, SPW, Programme in Nasarawa State, Dr Kassim Mohammad, has raised the alarm that some Yahoo-boys/fraudsters have taken over his bank account.

He told journalists yesterday in Lafia that Yahoo-boys have developed a new mechanism that enable them hack into people’s bank accounts details to divert huge sums of money.

Mohammad, a former member of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, said the fraudsters recently took over his Zenith Bank account with the intention to dupe him, noting that they have done similar thing to his Access Bank account, where they transfer money to his account and later wiped out his entire account.

In the chat with newsmen yesterday in Lafia, shortly after submitting a complaint letter to the management of Zenith Bank, Dr Mohammad said that last Tuesday, he saw a credit alert of N150,000 to his Zenith Bank account from a source he cannot identify and is therefore entertaining fears that his account may be at risk.

In the complaint letter he wrote to the bank, titled: “Notification of Fraudulent Transfer of N150,000,’ Dr Mohammad said, “I wish to write and bring to your notice that at about 4:23pm on Tuesday, 2/02/2021, I received an alert of N150,000 only to my Zenith Bank account number 2176990631 from one Bello Jibrin Isa.

“I sincerely denounce the transaction and call on the authority of Zenith Bank, Lafia branch to act immediately please.”

Dr Mohammad, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Nasarawa State, said that he has not transacted any business with anybody and he is not expecting any money from anybody.

He concluded that he had neither submitted the said bank account to anybody for any transaction.
