Following the recent reconstitution of the Governing Council, which coincided with the end of tenure of the sixth substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Felix Kolawole Salako, Council approved, upon the nomination by Senate, my appointment as acting Vice-Chancellor for a period not exceeding six months, during which a substantive Vice-Chancellor is to be appointed.

With this development, I assume office today, 1st November 2022.

Within the short period, I will do my utmost best to provide quality and responsible leadership, while ensuring that we continue to lay on FUNAAB’s tradition of excellence, bequeathed to us by our founding fathers.

In doing this however, I will be requiring the cooperation and support of staff, students and other stakeholders.

As acting Vice-Chancellor, I am not unaware of the enormity of the responsibilities of the office, especially during a transition period. I, however, plead that we pursue the transition with all sense of responsibility to the university. As a management, we shall open all channels of communication and I urge us all to address any forms of grievances using the appropriate procedures without causing embarrassment to the system.

The peace, image and reputation of the university must remain paramount to us at all times. We must strive to continue to uphold these no matter the cost.

In the coming days and weeks, the Council will unfold the timeline plan for a peaceful transition in the university aimed at raising the bar of excellence, which FUNAAB has been reputed for.

Together, we must all work with high sense and spirit of commitment to achieve the FUNAAB of our dreams.

God bless FUNAAB.
God bless Nigeria.

I thank you all.

Prof. Olusola Babatunde KEHINDE
1st November 2022
