The Cross River State Police Command on Tuesday arrested a fake prophet, Bassey Moses, at 28 Uwanse Street, Calabar, with human skull in his pulpit.

The prophet who is the General Overseer of Victory is Sweet Ministry, who claimed not to be aware of the owner of the human skull, stated that he has delivered many from bondage.

Asked to explain where he was ordained as a prophet, he said he was ordained by his late spiritual father, Bishop Etim Akpan, of the National Church, Azikiwe Street Calabar.

The arrest of the fake prophet followed an alarm raised by neighbours in the area where he resides after he made attempted to hypnotize and poison a female neighbor.

Investigation by CompassNG revealed that Bassey wanted to poured a substance into a bucket of water which his female neighbor had kept in a public bathroom at No. 56 Uwanse Street, where they both reside.

It was further gathered that when the female neighbor (names withheld) kept the bucket of bath water and returned to her room to pick an item, Bassey crept into the bathroom and sprinkled the liquid substance into the bucket of bath water which the lady had kept.

Upon discovery that the colour of the water had changed from the original colour to red, the lady raised an alarm and the neighbors reached out to authority of the state police command, who swung into action and whisked the prophet away to their station.

The police subsequently ransacked his Church and took away several spiritual/mystical items were found in his pulpit, which include Bintu-El-Sudan powder, perfumes, flowers and the human skull.

The suspect claimed he is not a fake prophet, but one who had used his powers, be it voodoo or real powers, to liberate many who were hitherto in bondage.

He said, “I started this church in 2018 with only Efik Bible and many who were oppressed by the devil had been liberated and set free.

“My mother was the one who tutored me to be helping people.”

But in a swift reaction to the incident the state Commissioner of Police, Sikiru Akande, warned that no criminal can hide in Cross River State, without being tracked down by the police.

He added, “We are surely going to do the bidding of our master, the Police IGP, who wants peace to reign in the country.”
