The governor of Ekiti State, Dr John Kayode Fayemi, has disclosed that Ekiti State would unveil its strategic plans for the enhancement and development of the tourism sector in the state this year.

Fayemi disclosed this on Item No 51 of his new year address to the state, adding that his administration would maximize the tourism potentialities of the state to boost it’s internally generated revenue, IGR, and properly position the sector in the state.

The governor averred that this is to enhance the active participation of the state in the sharing of the global tourism economy and business.

Disclosing that in 2021, Ekiti would unveil the Ekiti-State Tourism Master Plan and also commence its implementation in earnest, Governor Fayemi added that he would as well put in place the strategic buffer and belt to put at bay fear of insecurity, which is a malaise to tourism growth.

Confirming the governor’s plan and promise, the Senior Special Assistant,SSA, to Governor Fayemi on Tourism Development, Mr Wale Ojo-Lanre, insisted that Dr Fayemi is fastidious at ensuring legal framework for his projects to ensure sustainable development and strategic planning for growth.

Ojo-Lanre pointed out Fayemi is an agrarian apostle of “you cannot build something on anything,” hence, the unveiling of Ekiti State Tourism Master Plan, which contains the road map for tourism, to depict “where we are; where we are going; and how do will get there!

Ojo-Lanre said, “This is a fundamental achievement on the part of the governor and an assurance of sustainable inter-generational development and growth of tourism in Ekiti.”
