The university town of Oye-Ekiti was agog on Friday when the candidate of the Accord Party in the forthcoming June 18 gubernatorial election, Basorun Reuben Famuyibo, and his campaign team landed in the town.

The people of the town, who came out in large numbers, pledged their total support for the candidature of Basorun Famuyibo, as they prayed for his success in the election.

Earlier, Basorun Famuyibo had lamented the precarious state of affairs in Ekiti State and the parlous economic situation in Ekiti State and the lackadaisical approach of successive administrations in the state to governnace, which had led to abject poverty and hunger in the state, thereby pauperising the citizens.

He condemned the mass unemployment in the state and the situation where graduates across the state have become okada riders and the insecurity across the state, promising to rectify the situation if given the opportunity to assume the mantle of leadership.

Responding to Famuyibo, an elderly woman, Madam Florence Idowu, prayed for Famuyibo’s success at the poll and promised to not only vote for him, but also mobilise others to vote for him.

She however cautioned the candidate not to disappoint the people when he gets to power.

Similarly, Oluwafunmilayo Ajayi, Dare David Osho, Bose Ogunmoyin and Omotayo Ajayi, who also spoke all pledged total support for Famuyibo and also prayed for his success at the poll; admonishing him to remember his promises when he becomes the governor.

They told him that since he is coming to liberate Ekiti from the shackles of poverty and anguish which successive administrations in the state had subjected the people to, God will take him to Ekiti Government House come June 18.

They equally promised to mobilise massively for his victory.
