As Muslims all over the world celebrates the Eid-el-Kabir festival, the Arole Oduduwa and Ooni of Ife, His Royal Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, has congratulated Muslims across the world, especially, descendants of Oduduwa, over the ongoing Eid-ul-Adha celebration, also known as ‘Ileya’.

A statement signed by the Ooni’s Director of Media and Public Affairs, Comrade Moses Olafare, quoted Ooni Ogunwusi as calling on all not to forget the lessons associated with the season.

The Arole Oduduwa said, “I celebrate with my Muslim faithful across the nation on this special Eid day, as today marks a fulfilment of the holy injunction of gathering together to celebrate the spirit of sharing, joy and jubilation.

“As you all fulfil the tenets of Eid Mubarak through sacrifice, I admonish you to immensely uphold in gratitude the values of showing love to one another, representing the spirit of peace and selfless compassion towards your neighbours.

“May the blessings of complete obedience to Allah enfold you, your household and our nation, Nigeria.”

Furthermore, Ooni Ogunwusi, who co-chairs the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria, NCTRN, urged Muslims to continue to be tolerant of their neighbours, who are adherents of other religions.

He added, “We descendants of Oduduwa are known for peace and I want our people to sustain this. Records of security hitches in some part Nigeria at large is often aggravated by broken relationship and unresolved issues, which should be looked into.

“Let us be our brothers’ keepers like our founding fathers were; we are socially related, no matter where we come from and I want us all to share love, even beyond sharing our ram meat to our neighbours.

“On this note, I wish to congratulate all Muslims, once again, and I wish you all a happy celebration. A ku Odun. Eid-El Kabir!”
