Former Senate Leader and former Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, distinguished Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, SAN, has urged the entire people of Cross River State to give the governor-elect, Senator (Prince) Bassey Otu, all the supports he needs to build the state of their dreams.

Ndoma-Egba, who has paid a congratulatory visit to the governor-elect in Calabar, thanked Cross Riverians for overwhelmingly voting for Prince Otu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, believed to be the best in terms of capacity, experience and antecedents among the candidates that contested with him.

The erstwhile Senate Leader said, “We thank God and the good people of Cross River State that the elections came and they have gone very peacefully. There was no major incident and people voted Senator Bassey Otu, who was returned as governor-elect. This election is very, very significant in many ways because, one, it was a vote for history against experimentation. Two, it was a vote for justice against injustice. Three, it was a vote for freedom against external forces. It was a vote for our choice against external choices and a vote for justice against ethnicity.

“With their votes, the people spoke very, very loudly and resolved so many issues. Then, I think that the formula that has always worked for us, that has brought peace and a feeling of inclusiveness to all and sundry in the state, which is the rotational principle on the basis of senatorial districts, has been further validated or revalidated by the people of Cross River State with the election of Senator Bassey Otu.”

The APC stalwart once again congratulated Prince Otu, describing his election as historic.

He enthused, “He (Otu) is assuming the mantle of leadership in the state at a time when we need total reconstruction, not only of our infrastructure, but also of our attitude and our mindset. So, the challenges before him are quite many. But, I have no doubt in my mind that he is cut out for this assignment and that he is ready for it.

“God will guide him. God will give him wisdom. But the people of the state should also give him all the support that he needs to build the Cross River State of our dreams.

“Congratulations to Senator Bassey Otu, his deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey and the entire people of Cross River State. He should be magnanimous in victory, extend his hands of fellowship to those who contested against him and form an all-inclusive administration, where everybody will have a sense of belonging.

“I also congratulate His Excellency, Governor Ben Ayade, for standing firm on the path of justice and truth by insisting that it is the turn of the Cross River South and doing everything in his power to ensure that power returns to the South.”
