The governor of Cross River State, Senator (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, has assured the people of Cross River North senatorial district that his administration would strike a balance in the coming appointments to give the people a sense of belonging and a stake in the governance of the state.

Governor Otu, who gave the assurance on Monday, while playing host to the Cross River North All Progressives Congress, APC, Elders Advisory Council in Calabar, stated that appointments under his watch are strategically done to arrive at a political equilibrium.

A release by his Chief Press Secretary, CPS, Emmanuel Ogbeche, stated that the governor used the opportunity to thank the people for their overwhelming continuous support to his administration, maintaining that “the North cannot be ignored in the political equation of Cross River, nay Nigeria.”

He further restated his administration’s commitment to completing the Obudu Cargo Airport, started by his predecessor, Senator Ben Ayade, as well as returning the Ranch Resort to its pride of place as Nigeria’s tourists haven.

Otu also promised to build a Governor’s Lodge in Ogoja to enable effective state government representation in the Northern senatorial district, given the state’s peculiar geography.

The governor revelled in the quality of appointees the North has blessed his administration with, noting that his deputy, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, whom he described as a worthy support base, is leading a legion of competent allies who are adding impetus to the ‘Peoples First’ Agenda of bringing governance to the ordinary citizens of the state, reassuring that “we are definitely going somewhere.”

Earlier in his remarks, the Chairman of the Cross River North APC Elders Advisory Council, Ntufam Fidelis Ugbo, said that the visit was in solidarity with the governor on his victory at the tribunal, pledging their unwavering support.

The elders expressed confidence in Otu’s leadership capacity to take the state to greater heights, while hoping that concerns raised would be given due consideration.

In their separate reactions, Ntufam Peter Ojie, Chief Tony Udiandeye and the APC state chairman, Alphonsus Eba, eulogised the governor for his leadership disposition, which they stressed has ended any other opposition left in the state.
