The senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, who is also the incumbent lawmaker representing the district at the National Assembly, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, on Saturday said that he is confident of coasting to victory in the ongoing senatorial contest given the fact that his constituents are solidly behind him.

Senator Agom stated this while answering questions from newsmen shortly after casting his votes at St. Michael’s Primary School, Nkum Erede Ward, Ibil Nkum, Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River State.

The lawmaker stated that he is confident of clinching victory at the end of the day.

He said, “My opponent is not capable of swallowing me because majority of the people who are voting are for me.”

The senator, who advocated peace, unity and good governance, stated that with good democratic principles, the country can bounce back to it’s feet again.

He lauded his constituents for trooping out enmasse to take part in the on going electoral process to enable Nigerians find who their leaders should be.

While lauding the electorates for creating a peaceful atmosphere, especially at the kick-off of the electoral process, Agom said, “So far there is absolute peace in my polling unit at Nkum Rede ward. No bullying, no intimidation and no harassment.

“So, from what I have seen so far, it seems that democracy is going to prevail and I am happy about it.

“I commend the security agencies because I can see what they are doing since yesterday; I implore them to continue what they are doing so that there would be peace and no bloodshed.

“And that would allow people to vote where there would want to vote and not be disenfranchised.

“I also implore them to continue praying for a successful electoral processes.”
