Ten opposition political parties, operating under the aegis of Coalition of Opposition Political Parties, COPP, in Cross River State, on Friday endorsed the gubernatorial ambition of the governorship candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Prof. Sandy Ojang Onor.

Among the political parties that endorsed the PDP candidate are: African Democratic Congress, ADC, Zenith Labour Party, ZLP, Action Alliances, AA, Allied Peoples Movement, APM, national Rescue Movement, NRM, Action Democratic Party, ADP and Accord Party, A, among others.

APM Chairman, Pastor Ntami Esege, who signed COPP statement stated that the decision was reached after a careful assessment of all candidates was done.

Esege stated that the choice of Onor as next state governor of the state is based on his competence, capacity and character.

Apart from competence, the APM chairman stated that the decision to throw their weight solidly behind the PDP candidate is reached based on what the state has been through in the hands of the All Prohressives Congress, APC, stressing that their resolve to support Onor was because he possessed the right credentials to lead.

COPP state chairman insisted that with the formal adoption of the PDP candidate, as state governor in the forthcoming March 18, 2023 election, the state would become a better place to reside.

Clauses from COPP statement read, “We arrived at this decision after a careful assessment of all the candidates with focus on competence, capacity and character.

“Conscious of what the state has gone through in the last eight years, we unanimously resolved to support a man with the right credentials to lead the state to an enviable height.”
