All is now set for the Cross River State Chief Judge, CJ, Hon. Justice Akon Ikpeme, and the senator-elect for Eket senatorial district of Akwa-Ibom State, Rt. Hon Barr. Ekong Sampson, Ph.D, to deliver keynote speeches at the maiden Synod of the Diocese Of Atamunu of the Methodist Church Nigeria, on Saturday this week.
Bishop of the Diocese of Atamunu, Methodist Church Nigeria, Cathedral of Favour, Bishop Otuekong Ukut, disclosed this in an interactive session with journalists yesterday.
The cleric stressed that the maiden synod, which has two eminent personalities among other men and women of honour, who are fully prepared to deliver keynote addresses will kick-start from May 11 to 14, 2023 at the Methodist Cathedral of Favour, Atamunu, Calabar.
He added that the Synod wil draw fraternal delegates from Calabar, Akwa Ibom and other parts of the nation, who would participate in the church synod.
Speaking on the theme of the Synod, ‘Contending for the Faith,’ taken from the Book of Jude 1:3, the cleric stated that topical issues to be handled by the keynote speakers include issues of national interest affecting the country’s socio-political and economic life.
Giving an insight to what is expected of the key note speakers at the Synod, the cleric said, “As keynote speakers, they are expected to address the Synod during Saturday’s event, at the plenary session on current topical issues affecting the Christiandon, the nation and the world.”
The man of God stated that delegates, who had been carefully selected, shall cut across all the local churches to include: the Chairman, Cross River and Akwa Ibom states chapters of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Rev. Etim Tarkis Caiafas, and Rev. Dr. Chris Nyong. Other include the National Publicity Secretary of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, Bishop Dr Gospel Emmah Isong, and a host of other servants of the Most High God.
