The senator representing Cross North senatorial district at the red carpet of the National Assembly, Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe, has expressed satisfaction with peaceful conduct o the bye-elections for Ogoja/Yala federal constituency, which took place on Saturday.

Agom made the commendation while fielding questions from newsmen, shortly after casting his votes at polling unit 005, St.Michael Primary School, Ibil Nkum-Ogoja, his home town at Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State.

The parliamentarian averred that he is satisfied with the security situation at the Ogoja/Yala federal constituency bye-elections, and with his constituents for coming out enmass to take part in the electoral process.

He stated that with what his eyes have seen at Polling Unit, PU 005, which is presided over by Adebola Adeyinka, with 791 registered voters, he is sure that election rigging would soon become a thing of the past.

He said, “With what I saw, I think very soon there will be no room for rigging of elections any longer by politicians.

“Politicians have to work hard to earn popularity from voters or be ready to fizzle out politically.

“There will be no room for rigging because of what I have seen and if it continues strictly, there will be no bypass anywhere.

“Politicians will have to work very hard to earn what they get from the electorates.

“It is not an issue of coming to face the electorates when you have not delivered on the mandate given to you.”

Stressing that Nigeria has done well as a nation, Agom said that he expects things to get better as far as the electoral process is concerned.

An official of the Coalition of Civil Society Groups in Nigeria on Leadership and Good Governance, Ambassador Samuel, stated that the turnout for the bye-elections is tremendous, expressing confidence in the outcome.

At Primary School, Igodo, Nkum Ibor community, in Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State, an attempt to disrupt voting by a senior official of Ogoja Local Government Area, in connivance with some security officer, was resisted by the electorate.

The electorate resisted the attempt and out-braved the security officials

However, the situation was subsequently put under control and the presiding officer, Ukpi Dorcas Yohana, strated the process and the process is currently on-goin g, as at the time if filing in this report.
