A chieftain of ruling the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Cross River State, Hon. Abang Pius Bissong, on Friday charged youths in the country to shun violent and deviant behaviours that could truncate the unity and peace enjoyed by the people of Boki nation at home and in the diaspora.

Bissong urged Boki youths to engaged in activities that would promote peace and unity of the people.

He gave the charge while answering questions from our correspondent in a telephone interview about the Boki nation new yam festival, celebrated anually by Boki sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora on August 18.

In a message of goodwill to the people of Boki nation, made available to our news desk in Calabar, Bissong emphasized the need for the people of Boki nation to be united.

The Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of Ab Amani Jojo Global Concept emphasized love for one another, charging youths of the nation not to relent in doing those things that can make them become outstanding among their peers, even as he charged them on the need to shun deviant behavior and toe the line of peace.

Kicking against rancour and acrimony of any form, the APC Chieftain solicited for all to work towards the unity and peace of Boki nation so that they can rank themselves equal to their counterparts in other communities of the state.

The business tycoon cum politician described the new yam festival celebration as a festival valued by any true son and daughter of Boki nation.

He stressed that the ancient and cultural heritage must be sustained in a manner that must be transferred from one generation to another.

He said, “With unity and peace of our people, we can be sure of development. If we work as team, the sky is our starting point, and not our limit.

“Nothing attracks progressives like working as a team. Team work, they say is the surest way to achieve success.

“This is why we must see it as an individual responsibility to preach against decisive tendencies. This is because we are one.”

He described the yam festival as a season of cultural rebirth, reunification and celebration of the new yam, which according to him remains ‘king of crops.’

He added that Boki is richly blessed with fertile land and the people must prioritize agriculture, which is the mainstay of economy of most nations in the continent of Africa.
