Cross River State House of Assembly has recovered about 30 heavy duty road construction equipment stolen by officials of the immediate past administration in the state.

The road construction equipment, worth millions of dollars, include: heavy duty trucks, one 1050k Dozzer, one payloader, one Grader, one 850J Dozer, one Backo, and two Excavators, stolen and hidden somewhere without knowledge of the current administration.

Speaker of the CRHA, Rt. Hon Elvert Ayambem made known in a statement issued on Thursday in Calabar, by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Mathew Okachie.

Okachie stated that the lawmakers swung into action after a tip-off that some past government officials hid government-owned construction equipment somewhere and the Assembly followed up until they recovered the equipment.

Recall that on Thursday February 22, 2024, the leadership of the state House of Assembly unanimously vowed that they will never go to bed until the stolen equipment were recovered.

After serious discreet and diligent investigation, the Assembly recovered the stolen equipment.

Acknowledging recovery of the equipment, the Speaker, Ayambem, stressed that seven of the road construction equipment had reached the state capital, Calabar, adding that 23 other heavy duty trucks are still at the site, where tbe equipment were recovered.

Ayambem averred that the slow movement of the remaining pieces of construction equipment to Calabar was caused by lack of high-powered transportation vessels to convey the equipment to Calabar.

He stressed further that plans are underway to move the equipment to the state capital.

He vowed that the House of Assembly under his watch will do everything within its reach to ensure that every piece of stolen equipment is recovered and taken the state capital.

He stated that with the recovery, the state would have saved about N50 billion that would have gone down the drain.
