A company, Vintor and Sons Global Enterprises Company, VSGEC, has empowered about 300 farmers in Nasarawa State with the disbursement of farm inputs worth millions of naira to boost farm yields.
Farm inputs disbursed by VSGEC to the farmers in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, include rice seedlings, agro herbicides and sprayers, two truckloads of assorted fertilizers, rain boots and coats.
Project Director of the company for the North Central Zone, Iyev Vincent, made the disbursement of the items on behalf of the company.
The Project Director said the aim of the organization was to increase farmers’ self worth and help both the privileged and less privileged to be self reliant in the society.
He said,” We are working towards transforming the lives of farmers to boost food security in the society. Our core services are training and retraining of farmers on practice of fertilizer usage and pre-season service training workshop for farmers.
“The company is also mobilizing rural people in groups for poverty alleviation, creating awareness workshop for contact farmers.”
Iyev Vincent noted that the company’s provision of herbicides and fertilizers, and provision of tractors for hiring to farmers was to boost rice production in the state.
