As part of his contribution to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has donated two motorized modular fumigators to the Ondo State government.

The Arole Oduduwa also engaged the service of a drone sprinkler–fumigator for the state government for a particular period of time.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the state government, the Ondo State governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, thanked the monarch for the gesture.

He said that the state will make efforts to procure more of the motorized fumigators for its use, adding that the motorized fumigator will serve more effective purposes.

Earlier in his speech, Oba Adeyeye said the reality of COVID-19 has necessitated the need to look inward for home made solutions, even as he warned that the country must not rest on its oars.

He said, ”A lot of people will be wondering why I leave my palace to go around with this. Truth be told, why are you a king if you can’t cater for your people?

“In the olden days, the kings are always at the forefront and give courage to their people. I’m leading by example for every other person to know that COVID-19 is real

“We are presenting two modular fumigators to the Ondo State government free of charge. The drone will work in term of rendering service for a particular time free of charge.”

The Ooni commended Governor Akeredolu for the steps he has taken so far in the battle against the deadly virus, describing them as “very heartwarming.”
