The Oluwo of Iwoland, His Imperial Majesty Oba (Dr.) Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has commended the government of the State of Osun under the leadership of Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, on the precautionary steps taken by his administration aimed at curtailing the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the state.
While lauding the governor’s proactive measures in enforcing bans on public and social gatherings, the Oluwo implored people of Osun State to be law abiding.
In a statement by the Oluwo and made available to newsmen by his Press Secretary, Alli Ibraheem, Oba Akanbi described the constitution of a committee on the pandemic, despite that there was no reported case of the pandemic, as manifestation of a governor who values the lives of his people.
Adding that this should be a template for other states, Oba Akanbi said, “This is a fragile moment for the world and test of leadership. Coronavirus is a mate of no one. Able leaders should be proactive like Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun State. He has announced bans on public and social gatherings and inaugurated enforcement committees. These proactive precautionary measures are assurances that we are safe under his leadership.
“His committees are out 24 hours ensuring citizens comply with the directives to curtail the spread of coronavirus in the state. They enforced closure of schools, clubs, political gatherings, social meetings etc.
“At a time like, we know responsible leaders through their actions, inactions and reactions. Oyetola is one, other states should learn from him.”
