With its avowed commitment to ensure the completion of long abandoned Ijumu Unity House, the Ijumu Development Union, the umbrella body of all Ijumu sons and daughters, both at home and in the Diaspora, has set in motion machinery for the second phase of fund-raising for the project.
This much was revealed in a statement signed by the IDU National Secretary, Comrade Ahmed Ade-Fatai,and made available to CompassNG.
Ade-Fatai recalled that at the IDU Annual General Meeting, AGM, and fund raising for the Ijumu Unity House, on 28th December 2021, it was observed by prominent Ijumu elders the absence of Ijumu sons and daughters, and it was further resolved that another fund-raising be scheduled for February or March, 2022.
Subsequently, the executive chairman of Ijumu Local Government, Hon Taofik lsa, who attended the AGM, nominated three senior officials of the local government: the Secretary to the Local Government, SLG, Hon. Ibikunle Alexander Ropo; the Director of the Local Government, DLG, Mr. Joseph Asaju; the LG Treasurer, Mrs. abiba Omolola Saliu and the Special Adviser, Media to the executive chairman, Mr. Othman Hamidu, to be included in the IDU Launching Committee, which had since commenced work.
IDU Secretary this request the committee to further consolidate in its activities and preparation for the upcoming fund raising, which is expected to have as the Special Guest of Honour, the executive governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.
While appreciating the contribution and commitment of the committee to serve ljumuland, the secretary reminded that the online donations continue, as work progresses on the project, promising that all members will be updated with relevant information soon.
He further appealed that all hands must be on deck to ensure the timely completion of the Ijumu Unity House, which he said was long overdue for completion.
