President Muhammadu Buhari has, in a letter he wrote to the upper chamber of the National Assembly, asked the Senate to confirm the reappointment of Professor Mahmood Yakubu as the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
The President’s letter was read on the floor during plenary on Tuesday by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan.
The President in the letter asked the lawmakers to expeditiously consider his request to confirm Yaku as INEC chairman for another five-year tenure.
Recall that the President had reappointed Professor Yakubu as INEC Chairman for another five-year term in office; a development which was disclosed on October 27, in a statement by presidential spokesman, Femi Adesina.
