The deputy governor of Borno State, Hon. Umar Usman Kadafur, was among thousands of sympathizers who attended the funeral prayer of late Engr. Babagana Tijjani, an elder brother to the Secretary to the State Government, SSG.
Tijjani was a former Rector of Ramat Polytechnic, Maiduguri, who died yesterday night after a protracted illness.
The funeral prayer was performed by Chief Imam of Borno, Imam Zannah Laisu Ibrahim Ahmad.
The prayer took place at the former Rector’s residence at Old GRA, Maiduguri, on Thursday.
The state deputy governor, Kadafur, described late Tijjani as a humble and committed personality.
The deputy governor and his entourage later attended similar funeral prayers for late Malama Zulai, who was a worker at Government House.
Expressing the condolences if the state, on behalf of the state governor, Babagana Zulum, the government and the people of Borno, Kadafur prayed for the repose of the souls of the deceased, and the fortitude for their families to bear the loss, as well as for Allah to grant them Aljannatul Firdausi.
The deputy governor was accompanied by the Head of Service, HoS, Barrister Malam Fannami, mni, the honourable Commissioners for Intergovernmental Affairs and Special duties, Hon. Tukur Ibrahim Shani, and the Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Ahmed Ali Ahmed.
Others in the deputy governor’s entourage include: the Commissioners for Commerce Trade and Tourism, Hon.Tarpaya Asarya, the Commissioner for Local Government and Emirate Affairs, Hon. Sugun Mai Mele, and his Agriculture and Natural Resources counterpart, Engr. Bawu Musami.
Others were thc Deputy Chief of Staff, DCoS, Alhaji Haruna Hassan Tela, the Permanent Secretary Government House, Barrister Mustapha Ali Busuguma, among other top government functionaries.
