The presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, Mr. Peter Obi, has identified bad choice of leaders as responsible for poor quality of governance in Nigeria, even as he promised to secure a united Nigeria where rule of law will prevail if elected President.
Obi made the remarks while addressing party supporters during his campaign tour to the U.J Esuene Sports Stadium, Calabar, on Wenesday.
He said, “We will ensure that we move Nigeria from a consuming nation to a production economy.
“Never again will there be any university strike. Don’t vote people you don’t trust. Let no man come here to deceive you.
“Cross River State is the tourism headquarters. We will energize the tourism sector to make your state take it’s pride of place in the tourism sector.”
In his earlier remarks, Prof. Pat Utomi stated that with Obi as the President, a new Nigeria can be assured.
Itoki enthused, “A new Nigeria is possible and it can start today. All the trouble we have today is as a result of the fact that we don’t produce.”
Earlier, former chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Cross River State chapter, Comrade John Ushie, stated that Nigerians had been looking for who to rescue the country, stressing that Obi is the right one who can rescue the nation.
Bushie said, “They say we don’t have a structure and platform and as such election cannot be won and tell them that they had lied. NLC is still angry about subsidy removal. Obi is not going to be a consuming President but a producing one.
To Mr. Peter Obi, be assured that Cross River is totally for you.”
Also speaking, Aisha Yusuf stated that 80 percent of the problems faced by citizens of the country is as a result of voting bad leaders in the past, urging Nigerians to be weary of chosing bad people again to lead the country in 2023.
The National Chairman of the LP, Mr. Julius Abure, stated, “Since 1999, we have been making the wrong choices. Thank God we won’t make such wrong choices again.”
Earlier, in his remarks, the state chairman of the LP, Comrade Ogar Osim, said that with the LP in Aso Rock, Nigeria can be better again, urging everyone to get their PVCs, which according to him is the power of any voter.
