The Arewa Youths Consultative Forum, AYCF, has reacted to the death of Afenifere spokesman, Yinka Odumakin.
Speaking through its National President, Yerima Shettima, on Saturday, the AYCF said that Odumakin died at a time he was needed most.
Expressing shock at Odumakin’s passing, Shettima prayed God to grant the family he left behind the fortitude to bear the loss.
Shetimma said, “It’s a great loss. Odumakin was one of our finest, especially in the Arewa community. We have lost one of our best, a shinning, leading light in our struggle.
”It is a loss to the family and to the country. We lost Yinka at a time we needed him the most. I am still in shock.
“We pray God grants him rest and help his family bear the loss.”
Recall that Odumakin, the National Publicity Secretary of pan-Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, Odumakin, passed on on Saturday morning from complications arising from COVID-19 at the age of 56.
He died at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, after battling with underlying health conditions, such as diabetes before the COVID-19 attack.
His wife, Mrs Joe Okei-Odumakin, was also quoted to have confirmed the news of the death.
She lamented, “A part of me is gone. A part of me is gone. He fought hard at the intensive care unit. Pray for me to survive this. My love is gone.
“He was OK before. Even on March 10, he was still attending meetings. He was recovering yesterday, but he died this morning. I am at the intensive care unit. A part of me is gone.”
