Arrangements are in top gear by the governor of Cross River State, Prof. Ben Ayade, to commission the British-Canadian International School, built by the incumbent Cross River State administration.

The school, according to the newly sworn-in Chairman of Cross River State Universal Basic Education Board, CRSUBEB, Senator Stephen Odey, the institution when it fully takes off after its commissioning by the state governor, would bring a boost to the educational sector and turn around the fortune of the state.

Odey stated that the institution would be commissioned by the state governor in the first quarter of 2022 before his tenure winds off.

Odey made the assertion yesterday in Calabar while answering questions from journalists, shortly after inspecting the ongoing project at the British-Canadian International School, Obudu.

The SUBEB boss charged the contractors to re-double their efforts and ensure that the job is delivered according to specifications so as to meet up with the targeted time scheduled for the commissioning, as the government was eager to get quality job delivered by contractors.

Odey said that the institution is one of the initiatives of the Prof. Ayade-led administration, meant to boost quality education in the state, calling on Crossriverians, home and abroad to support the government in its quest to boost educational sector in the state.

The SUBEB chairman, who expressed pleasure with the quality of work done, and ongoing at project site, and called for speedy execution of job from contractors, stressing that it is only when the job is executed speedily according to specification, that is when the governor’s plan of commissioning the project in the first quarter of the year can be realized.

In a related development, the SUBEB chairman warned that the board under his watch would not hesitate to discipline staff who absent themselves from duty.

He said that dereliction of duty would not be tolerated as far as he is concerned, and threatened to met sanction to staff who were always in the habit of absconding from their duty pose.

The Executive Chairman assured parents and guardians that the Governor Ayade-led administration is committed to the development and transformation of education in Cross River State.

Senatir Odey also reminded members of the public that the board runs three junior boarding secondary schools, fully furnished with state-of-the-art facilities, quality teachers, and conducive learning environment in Akpabuyo, Abi and Yala local government areas, respectively.

He further advised parents and guardians to take advantage of these schools to ensure quality education for their children/wards.
