Cross River state governor, Sir Ben Ayade, has called on Christians to, at all times, exhibit the examplary life of Jesus Christ, tenuously imbibing His virtues.
In a Christmas message made avilable to newsmen in Calabar by his Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Mr. Christian Ita, Ayade said that the birth of Christ brought a refreshing dawn to mankind.
Describing Christ as a symbol of peace, humility and selflessness, Ayade maintained that the season comes with lessons.
He said, “Christ’s birth was devoid of pomp and pageantry. He chose to be born in a manger, even when He had the divine power to cause His birth to be in a more elegant facility. His humility and selflessness should be imbibed by Nigerians, especially, political leaders.
“Let us never forget that He was born to bring peace and good tidings to mankind. So as Christians, let us be agents of peace.
“Christmas tells us that peace, humility and selflessness are the hallmarks of leadership, as exhibited by Christ Himself.”
The Cross River State governor further stated that “this season readily reminds us of our duties; as political leaders and leaders in all strata of human endeavours, to show salutary examples in all we do.”
Wishing Christians peace and joy as they celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, Ayade charged them to be mindful of the global pandemic, Coronavirus, which he said is still very much with mankind.
Ayade admonished, “As you celebrate the birth of our saviour, remember the reason for the season and let it never depart from you hearts. Also be mindful of the deadly global pandemic, COVID-19, which is still a potent health danger to the world.
“I urge you therefore, to endeavor to observe all the COVID-19 preventive protocols as you celebrate the birth of Christ.”
