Wives of the presidential and vice presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Hajia Titi Atiku Abubakar, and Edith Okowa, on Monday took the campaign for their husbands to Calabar, the Cross River State capital, to canvass for votes from the electorate.
Atiku’s wife, through her non-governmental organization, NGO, S.H.E, gave scholarship award to 50 indigent students in tertiary institutions to enable them scale through school, saying that it’s her way of contributing her quota towards national development.
At a town hall meeting, which took place at Value Mate Shopping Centre Conference Hall, Ndidem Usang, Iso Road, Calabar, with PDP women stakeholders, before proceeding to the U.J Esuene Sports Stadium, to receive the PDP presidential candidate and deputy, Atiku’s wife stated that with her husband, Nigeria can once again bounced back, once the people agree to vote her husband on February 25 presidential election.
She stated that with the lofty programmes lined up for execution by her husband, Nigeria can become great again, adding that the scholarship award given to 50 brilliant and indigent students is to cushion the effect of econmic hardship, which she alledged had been ochestrated by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
Atiku’s wife said, “My husband is going to drive insecurity away from our land, he has promised 60 percent of positions to women in government.
“He would inject $60 billion into the economy. Our girls have become prostitutes. Our boys have joined yahoo yahoo (internet fraud). All these are because of the econmic hardship inflicted on the people by the APC government.
“Atiku Abubakar is the only man who can help secure the future of the girl-child and women.
” If you secure the future of a woman, you secure a nation. You train a woman, you train Nigeria. The foundation also profer solutions that when they come on board they would pursue.
“I have come here to talk about my husband, who had come out again to save souls. He has come to save the suffering masses.
“I talk because we are like minds. He has education as well as I also have. The $10 billion that my husband would inject into the economy would be for stimulation of undustries and take care of micro credits for women, would be a resolving loan.
Abubakar’s wife stated that some times ago, when she was walking the streets of Italy, she came by many Nigeria children roaming the streets in Rome, adding that she then made a covenant with God, promising to help the underprivileged if she is elevated by God.
She averred that in the last 23 years, she had given scholarship to many, even when she was at the Villa, when her husband served the nation’s as vice president.
She added, “We have become beggars, APC must pack and go, the suffering is too much. We must vote Atiku, because he is a unifier. He is the only man to revive and bring back Nigeria’s lost glory.
“If you put Atiku in power, the hardship would vanish. Enough of this suffering and teeth gnashing.”
