Former deputy governor of Oyo State, Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, has been declared the Deputy National Chairman, DNC, South, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, at the ongoing National Convention of the party in Abuja.
Arapaja defeater former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, with 2,004 votes to Oyinlola’s 705 votes. 3,511 delegated were accredited and 165 votes voided.
The former deputy governor was declared winner of the election by the chairman of the National Convention Committee and governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintiri, at about 4 am on Sunday, 31st of October 2021, at Eagles Square, Abuja
Arapaja, who belongs to the camp of Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, defeated Oyinlola, rumoured to have the backings of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former military President, Ibrahim Babangida.
The new PDP Deputy National Chairman is expected to resigns his position as the PDP Vice Chairman, South-West zone of the party.
