…PDP Candidate Wins Akpabuyo State Constituency

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the last Saturday’s Ogoja/Yala federal constituency of Cris. River State bye-election, Mr. Jude Ogbeche Ngaji, has been declared winner of the bye-election.

Ngaji emerged winner after beating his rival, and the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, a university don, Mr. Mike Osibe, polling 22,778 votes against Osibe’s 2,059 votes.

The Returning Officer for the bye-election, Dr. John Edor, averred that having polled the highest number of votes, Ngaji is the winner of the elections.

He said, “I am returning officer for the 2022 Ogoja/Yala federal constituency bye-elections, organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Saturday in Cross River State and the candidates received the votes as captured above.”

However, in Akpabuyo state constituency of Cross River State bye-elections, the candidate of the PDP, Dr. Ekeng Effiom, declared winner, after beating his APC rival, Bassey Ekpo.

The breakdown of the result for Akpabuyo state constituency bye-elections indicated that the APC candidate polled 5,363 votes against PDP’s 5,866 votes scored.

Reacting to the announcement of the result, the state chairman of the APC, Alphonsus Eba Ogar lauded the electorate for putting their weight solidly behind the party to achieve victory.

The APC Chairman stressed that he is happy that the APC won in a constituency of his interest, even though his party lost the contest in Akpabuyo state constituency to the opposition PDP.

He said, “The bye-elections in Yala/Ogoja federal constituency is very important to me. I am happy that I lost one and won one.”

State chairman of the PDP, Venatius Ikem, stated, “I don’t think they ever use BIVAS the way they ought to. We hope to review the situation when our emotions are calm.”
