The managements of Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON, and Hayden Petroleum Limited have debunked the story making the rounds on an online platform alleging that AMCON has taken over the assets of Hayden Petroleum Limited.

In separate press statements, the two organisation stated that the story making the round on an online platform is nothing but a lie from the pit of hell.

In its statement signed by its Head of Corporate Communications, Jude Nwauzor, titled ‘AMCON Not in Dispute with Heyden Petroleum,’ AMCON said Heyden Petroleum Limited has amicably settled all issues and demonstrated commitment to meeting its obligations and has been making payments accordingly.

The statement reads, “Our attention has been drawn to a publication in the media regarding to the pending litigation between the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria, AMCON, and Heyden Petroleum Limited.

“We hereby notify the general public that AMCON and Heyden Petroleum Limited have settled all issues between them amicably, and Heyden Petroleum Limited has demonstrated commitment to meeting its obligations and has been making payments accordingly.

“Given this latest development, AMCON has formally discontinued its pending litigation against Heyden Petroleum Limited, particularly suit No. FHC/AMC/67/2024.

“As a responsible debt recovery agency of the Federal Government of Nigeria, it is not the practice of AMCON to engage in a media trial of obligors who are meeting their obligation.

“Accordingly, the general public is urged to disregard any negative commentaries on the relationship between AMCON and Heyden Petroleum Limited.”

Meanwhile, in its separate press statement, Heyden Petroleum Limited also reiterated that it was not true that AMCON has taken over its assets.

Heyden Petroleum described as misleading, untrue and detrimental a media report purporting the takeover of the petroleum company’s assets by AMCON.

Insisting that it enjoyed a robust, healthy and subsisting relationship with AMCON, Heyden Petroleum stressed that it is in full control of its assets and operations.

It said, “Our attention has been drawn to the online publication regarding the purported takeover of Heyden Petroleum assets by AMCON.

“We write to refute the erroneous publication as the information is misleading and detrimental to the reputation of Heyden Petroleum and its stakeholders.

“AMCON has since issued a statement with reference to the above captioned ‘Heyden and AMCON are not in any Dispute,’ refuting the story.

“AMCON also stated that the litigation FHC/AMC/2024 referenced in the publication has since been formally withdrawn/discontinued from the courts.

“Heyden and AMCON enjoy a robust, healthy and subsisting relationship and unequivocally state that Heyden Petroleum remains in full control of its assets and operations, which is currently overseen by the Heyden management team.

“As an entity, Heyden is solvent, viable, and financially healthy to meet and discharge ALL its obligations to her customers and creditors.”

Appreciating the diligence of its stakeholders in bringing the misinformation to its attention, Heyden Petroleum urged the general public to “kindly disregard the publication.”
