Wife of the President, and Nigeria’s First Lady, Hajia Aisha Buhari, is expected in Ilorin, Kwara State tomorrow (Tuesday) to partake in a conference to discuss the roles and contributions of women in the development of the state.
The conference, put together by the state government is themed: ‘Cracking the Glass Ceiling: The Story of Kwara Women,’ is scheduled to feature prominent women from within and outside Kwara State, and is expected to speak on the strides of the female folks, highlight their concerns, and discuss the way to mainstream gender.
A statement from the office of the wife of the Kwara State governor, Her Excellency Olufokake AbdulRazaq, stated that the conference would also discuss the state’s socio-economic and political milieu and beyond.
Apart from the First Lady, other dignitaries expected at the events include: Kwara State’s First Lady’s colleagues from the Nigeria’s First Ladies’ Forum; Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen.
Others are Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management, Sadiya Umar Farouq, Special Adviser to the President on Economic Matters, Dr Sarah Alade; former presidential candidate, Mrs. Sarah Jubril; and a Kwara State indigenous business tycoon, Hajia Bola Shagaya.
Also, prominent serving and retired public officers/civil servants, including former Chief Judge of Kwara State; Justice Raliat Elelu-Habeeb; former Deputy Vice Chancellor of University of Ilorin Prof. Sidikat Ijaiya; and dozens of other female eggheads and entrepreneurs will be attending.
Former Chairman of First Bank Plc and business woman, Mrs Ibukun Awosika will deliver a keynote address at the event while Alade Jubril, Justice Elelu, and United Nation’s Amina Mohammed and the National Missioner of the Ansaru-Ud-Deen Islamic Society of Nigeria, Sheikh Abdulrahman Ahmad; among others will co-direct the conference.
