The governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has received been bestowed with the Procurement Compliance Good Governance Award for his unprecedented achievements in public procurement practice in Ogun State.

The governor received the award at the 3rd Annual National Conference and Induction Awards Ceremony of the Association of Public Procurement Practitioners of Nigeria, APPON, held at Raddison Blue Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

Speaking after receiving the award, Governor Abiodun, who was represented by the Director- General, Ogun State Bureau of Public Procurement, Dr. Adesina Olanloye, appreciated the association for the recognition of his administration’s efforts towards promoting good governance, through the reformation of public procurement in the state.

He said his that administration would continue to deploy Electronic Document Management, EDM, systems, e-procurement tools, and digitised revenue collection platforms towards improving efficiency and reducing leakages in all the state’s Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs.

Abiodun said, “For us as an administration, we appreciate the positive effects of the deployment of Information and Communication Technology, ICT, towards resolving various challenges that have culminated in improving our ease of doing business index.”

Governor Abiodun stated that his administration had automated a methodical, strategic, and systematic approach in formulating policies and executing programmes that were implemented within budgetary allocation and delivered the expected outcomes.

In his welcome address, the President of the association, Mr. Emem Kanico, said that the event was a milestone that had taken the efforts of dedicated procurement experts and stakeholders to record the mileage for the period under review.

Mr. Kanico noted that the association is committed to contributing its quota to national development, by assisting the government and its agencies to save costs, enforce quality control mechanisms, effective delivery and supervision of procurement procedures according to international best practices.

In her keynote address, the MD\CEO Funmi Ayinke Nigeria Limited, Engr. Dr. Funmilayo Adekojo, said that e-procurement was a viable tool for transparency, efficiency, competition, integrity, and cost-saving, stating some of the benefits of the e-procurement process include, resources and data management, as well as improved competitiveness, and many more.
