Founder of Oodua Heritage International Organization, OHIO, and board member of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation, NTDC, Erelu Bolanle Amoke Kuku, has enjoined Oodua descendants to rescue Yoruba culture from going into extinction, calling for a collaborative effort to revive the rich cultural heritage.
Erelu Kuku, who made the appeal while addressing journalists in Ibadan, said, “It is high time Oodua descendants rose to promote the Yoruba culture and heritage. Neglecting our cultural heritage will not help, while other tribes are embracing theirs.”
She further disclosed that OHIO was founded to promote unity and the course of Oodua cultural heritage among the Oodua people worldwide; and to serve as a platform that is dedicated to the recovery of our rich cultural heritage.
Charging all descendants of Oodua, both home and abroad to embrace Oodua cultural heritage in terms of dressing, language and food, Erelu Kuku stated that she has helped young Nigerians in empowerment programmes with skills acquisition and trainings, adding, “It is quite unfortunate that our culture is derailing, we must revitalize it.”
