The unpalatable circumstances surrounding the admission in the hospital and subsequent death of the Kwara State COVID-19 index case is now taking toll on the people of the state.
This is just as the government, at a press conference addressed by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi, yesterday announced a total lockdown of the entire 16 local government areas of the state.
The lockdown order, according to the Deputy Governor, bans all vehicular movements, including private vehicles, and shut down of all manner of shops and markets, with the exception of foodstuff sellers and operators of medicine shops, who are allowed to operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays respectively between 10 am and 2pm.
The number two citizen, who also doubles as the Chairman, Kwara State Technical Committee on COVID-19, expressed satisfaction with the level of compliance by the people of Offa on the earlier lockdown order placed on the town since Tuesday.
While expressing appreciation to the Federal Government for its support to his committee, Alabi urged Kwarans not to panic, but to strictly adhere to all the safety measures on COVID-19 dished out through media channels by government and relevant agencies.
