The Taraba State governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku, has approved the relaxation of lockdown earlier imposed on the state to prevent the spread of Coronavirus in the state.

This was made known in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary, CPS, to Governor Ishaku, Hassan Mijinyawa, and made available to journalists in Jalingo on Wednesday.

The statement said that the relaxation of the stay-at-home order takes effects from Thursday, April 9, 2020, as all markets, shops and other places of businesses were to open between the hours of 8:00am and 2:00pm everyday until further notice.

The statement also stated that human and vehicular movements would also allowed during the period, however, residents of the state are advised to avoid large gatherings and maintain social distancing.

In the statement, Governor Ishaku thanked the people of Taraba State for complying with the lockdown order, adding that government was not unmindful of the hardships the lockdown caused to many families, adding that it was a necessary step that had to be taken to protect lives from being wasted.
