The Taraba State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Barr. Danjuma Adamu, on Wednesday said Governor Darius Ishaku was not resting on his oars about the security of the people of the state.
Adamu, at a press briefing in Jalingo, said that contrary to the campaign of calumny insinuating that Governor Ishaku has failed in his primary responsibility of protecting lives and property in Southern Taraba, the governor has been working relentlessly to ensure that peace to reins in Southern Taraba in particular and the state in general.
Insisting that the report posted on social media by some faceless writers was just aimed at frustrating the good efforts ofaa Governor Ishaku, who has been working assiduously to bring about peace and enhance development in the state, Adamu added that the report, entitled: ‘The Rise of Tiv Hooliganism in Southern Taraba and Governor Darius Leadership Failure’ was nothing but a baseless campaign orchestrated by desperate individuals to smear the governor’s rising political profile.
He further explained that since his assumption of office in 2015, Governor Ishaku and his Benue State counterpart, Samuel Ortom, have been meeting to find lasting solutions to the Tiv/Jukun crises, as well as crimes in the area.
He said, “Governor Ishaku never relented in his efforts to bring the crisis situation to an end and through his efforts, hostilities ceased by September, 2019.
“The faceless writer accused the governor of destroying the state and taking actions against the traditional institutions by failing to name the new Gara of Donga.
“The oath of office the governor swore was not as a Jukun governor, but as the governor of Taraba State, to promote peace, progress, harmonious coexistence and cultural upliftment of the people of Taraba as a whole.”
