In the aftermath of the pandemic coronavirus rearing its ugly head across the country, all forms of religious gathering, open worship and gathering of any kind have been banned by the House of Representatives, after hours of deliberation and debate among the lawmakers.

The ban on open worship will mean that the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG’s monthly Holy Ghost Service will be put on hold; just as the ban will also affect other churches with a huge crowd and mosque with a large crowd.

The lawmakers said Nigeria should act and suspend such large gatherings, even as the lawmakers have also ban all visitors from the National Assembly till further notice

With this resolution, constituents will either write their representatives and wait for a reply or see members in the constituency offices.

Moving the motion under matter of urgent public importance, Hon Zakari Isa Chawai, Kauru federal constituency, said even though the government has put some measures in place to ensure flight restrictions into the country, there was the need to restrict public gatherings.

Commending the management of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, for shutting down its orientation camps across the country, Chawai pointed out that there was the need to take more proactive measure and quarantine travelers to the country.
