A socio-political group in Ogun State, Gateway Tower, has accused the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the recently concluded March 18 polls, Oladipupo Adebutu, of assaulting the sensibility of the citizens of Ogun State with what it described as “his crocodile tears” after his role in the gruesome murder of an official of the Independent Natıonal Electoral Commission, INEC, Emmanuel Adediran.
The group also called on security agencies in the state to investigate it’s allegation against Adebutu and ensure that all perpetrators of the dastardly act are brought to book.
In a statement signed by the coordinator of the group, Comrade Saka Ajiroba, and made available to newsmen, the group said, “Our attention has been drawn to the political jamboree and theatrical display of the defeated candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the last gubernatorial election in Ogun State, Mr Oladipupo Adebutu, at the abode of the slain INEC official, Emmanuel Adediran, who was killed by PDP hoodlums and political merchants.
“For umpteenth time, we want to boldly reiterate that we have at our disposal a plethora and overwhelming evidence of how Adebutu, in connivance with scores of PDP members, compromised the electoral process on March 18, across Ogun State, through the deployment of hundreds of street urchins and political dealers.
“Recall that we earlier exposed how Adebutu criminally came up with thousands of credit cards worth ₦10,000 each, with conspicuous inscription of the photograph of his late mother, as a strategic means of vote buying, having realized that his candidacy was totally unpopular among Ogun electorate, and how he went round the state during the exercise to supervise the infraction with impunity.”
The group further insisted that the “cruel modality of this electoral fraud was to engage the services of dare-devil hoodlums to monitor the mode of distribution of the cards, having expressed skepticism about the integrity of his cohorts, who he engaged in the heinous act.”
Ajiroba added further that it was during the course of raising eyebrow to the shameless activities of Adebutu’s boys at Ogijo by the slain INEC official that he was gruesomely murdered by the PDP hoodlums.
The group further averred that Adebutu’s early visit to Adeniran’s home was expected to be followed by sincere apology and soberness, expression of remorse over the criminality of his political acolytes and promise of a reliving solace to the family of the late INEC official.
It continued, “Unfortunately and laughably, the leader of the rigging ring in Ogun State, Adebutu, lost his track and incoherently accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, of commiting the crime, just to be smatter by half and maintain his lack of cognitive capacity to situate issues and be logical in his expression.
“While we are not too sure under what influence Adebutu used to speak at different fora and events, we are compelled to demand for thorough investigation and examination of his nervous system, so as to save the state from further embarrassment of this nature.
“Meanwhile, we urge security agencies in the state to quickly mobilize and move to ascertain the veracity of our claim and swiftly arrest Adebutu and his co-travellers without delay for assaulting the sensibility of citizens of Ogun State with his crocodile tears of callousness, after commiting such huge crime against humanity.”
