Cross River State Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Barr. Rosemary Archibong, has said that the passion to communicate with humanity remains the driving force, which inspired her to author a book titled, ‘Management Essentials Through The Lens of God.’
Archibong, who is a former Commissioner for Information in Cross River State, disclosed this in an interactive session with journalists, shortly after the launch of her book, which took place at Pearl Hall, Transcorp Hotel, Calabar yesterday.
The commissioner advised people not to engage themselves in fighting, as done by the political class, just because they seek followers, stressing that when people find out that you can meet them at their points of need, they can commence following you and possibly prefer you to be their leader.
Earlier, during the public presentation/ launching of the book,
Archibong, who was also a former Director of Administration, University of Calabar Teaching Hospital UCTH, averred that people can become leaders when there is a vacuum or problem and they solve it.
She said, “You don’t have to fight and behave like politicians, who buy followers; but find a need, fill it and you will have followers.
“Everyone is a leader and leadership comes when there is a vacuum or you solve a problem, you become a leader.”
Archiving stressed that her passion for people stood as a major driving force, which propelled her to write the book, adding that her success is anchored on God.
She added, “I have a passion for people and it’s that passion that propelled me to want to share some of the things I know that has helped my life to be a success and it is anchored on God.”
An academic don who reviewed the book at the ceremony, Associate Professor Antigha Bassey, said that the book is an attempt made by the author to apply spirituality to management of an organisation.
According the book reviewer, the book reveals that God is the originator of management, and consequently managers, employees and owners of organisations should consider God first and draw inspiration from the Bible in managing organisations.
Bassey stressed that the analysis of management principles in the eleven-chapter book reveals the transforming power of gained experience; saying that the book is the first of it’s kind east of the Niger.
One time Chief Medical Director, CMD of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital, UCTH, Prof. Rowland Ndoma-Egba, in his keynote address, said that the main challenge of Nigeria is leadership.
The former CMD stated that a cursory look deep into the book showed that what come naturally with being a leader, even as he recommended the book to all, because we are in a management situation in the country and good leadership/management is in our best interest.
In his good will message, the National Publicity Secretary of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, Bishop Emmah Gospel Isong, said that Pastor Rosemary Archibong is the proper person to write the book.
Bishop Isong, who was represented by his wife, Magistrate Isong, said that the author is giving back to the society by writing the book.
Dignitaries who graced the book launch included: Cross River State Deputy Governor, Professor Ivara Esu; Professor Eyo Etim Nyong; Asuquo Ekpenyong; among others.
The book launch also featured the 44th wedding anniversary between Pastor Archibong and her husband, Sir William Archibong.
