The Kwara State Command of the Nigerina Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested a septuagenarian, Zubair Audu, for attempting to shoot his son with a locally made gun.
The old man was said to have attempted to kill his son, lssa Audu.
The NSCDC Public Relations Officer, Babawale Zaid Afolabi, who disclosed this to newsmen in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, said that the unfortunate incident occured at Alagbado Area 5, Mountain Avenue, in the state capital.
According to him, “On Wednesday, June 23, 2021, at about 2 pm, the NSCDC Divisional Office at Pake Area received a distress call that one 76-year-old man was chasing his son with a locally made rifle.
“Further investigation revealed that there have been a no-love-lost relationship between the father and the son, which might have snowballed into that life-threatening incident.”
Afolabi further disclosed that the timely intervention of the NSCDC Anti-Vandal patrol team in the area calmed the situation, adding that the old man and his rifle were in the custody of the NSCDC, while serious man-hunt has began for the son, who is still at large.
The spokesman added that the State NSCDC Commandant, Mr. Iskil Makinde, who had been briefed of the incident, has ordered for full scale investigations in order to take further actions.
