Members of the Yewa/Awori Traditional Council have pledged their unalloyed support for the second term bi of the governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun towards the , insisting that he is a ‘talk-and-do’ governor, unlike ‘gbogbo e l’a maa se.’

The traditional rulers, under the able chairmanship of the paramount ruler of Yewaland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle made the declaration on Sunday, during a meeting of obas, held at the traditional council’s secretariat at Ilaro.

Speaking at the meeting, Oba Olugbenle said that Governor Abiodun is a talk-and-do governor and not like the “gbogbo e l’a maa se” administration.

He said, “We have seen tremendous change in the state of our infrastructural status, all obas in Yewa/Awori are in support of your second term, we have seen your hands-on infrastructure, your endorsement by Yewa/Awori monarchs is to enable you to do more and we want you to do more.

“We are aware that you inherited a lot of debt from your predecessor, despite that, you had not let us down since you assumed office, we want you to do more, we can see that you are trying your best, but we want you to do more.”

Oba Olugbenle disclosed that there was an abandoned bridge at Ilaro, which was flagged off by the previous government; we have only seen the signboard at Papalanto, but nothing was done for eight years.

He posited that it is not yet time for Yewa/Awori to rule the state, praying that Abiodun would be the first executive governor in Ogun to hand over power to Yewa/Awori’s son in 2027.

He added, “We are in support of your second term, and I believe that come 2027, our son will take up the mantle. on behalf of all obas in Yewa/Awori land, I Olugbenle Kehinde, the Olu of Ilaro and the paramount ruler of Yewa, I pronounce the endorsement of the second term of Governor Abiodun. Our endorsement is to enable you to continue the good work in Yewaland. You will be the first executive governor to hand over to Yewa son.”

Responding to the endorsement, Governor Abiodun said that Ogun West is always paramount in his mind, recalling that their royal blessing in his journey to Oke Mosan was granted, thereby, he would never take them for granted.

He said, “Yewa land and Ogun West by extension, is one of the industrial capital of Nigeria and one of the industrial capital on this continent. I can assure you that the region will continue to occupy that position as far as the industrialisation in Ogun and the country is a concerned.”

Abiodun assured that he would be unwavering in his commitment to the political, infrastructure, socio-economic, and emancipation of Ogun West.
