The atmosphere in Calabar, the Cross River State capital, is charged, with the leadership of Cross River State All Progressives Congress, APC, and party supporters roaring to play host to the party’s presidential flag-bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Bola Tinubu, and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, who would be in Calabar for the South South zonal Town Hall meeting today, December 20.
The Deputy Director, APC Presidential Campaign Council, who also doubles as the Chairman of the local organising committee, LOC, of the zonal town hall meeting, Dr Julius Okputu, stated in his interaction with journalists on Monday that Tinubu’s visit to Calabar would attract a lot of good things to the state as party stakeholders are going to use the opportunity to table several issues that would add value to the state.
Okputu said, “We are fully prepared for Asiwaju’s visit to Calabar for a town hall meeting with people of the South South of Nigeria.
“Preparations are in top gear to give a warmth welcome to our presidential candidate, Ahmed Tinubu, who will join us on Tuesday in a town hall meeting with the people of South South.
“The state has so much to put in place for the incoming President to implement, especially in the area of agro-industrialization, job creation, robust manufacturing and sustained innovation, establishment of a national security architecture to obliterate terror, banditry, kidnapping among others.
“Our expectation is that the South South would have something to present in their agenda.”
Describing Asiwaju Tinubu as a man with a track record, who governed Lagos State with policies and initiative that branded and separated the state from ordinary Nigerian box, Okputu stressed that with Tinubu at the helms of affairs, Nigeria would be great once again.
He said that the APC presidential candidate and his running mate are the only capable hand to revamp the economy of the nation in 2023, and urged well meaningful Nigerians not to hesitate to cast their votes in favour of the APC presidential candidate.
