The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for Dr Hauwal/Askira-Ubafederal constituency of Birno State, Usman Midala Balami, has been declared as the House of Representatives member-elect in the just concluded National Assembly elections conducted on 25th February 2023.
The PDP candidate emerged victorious havung polled a total of 28,820 votes, while his close opponent the All Progressives Congress, APC, candidate polled a total of 25,383 votes.
The election was conducted in tense but peaceful circumstances, where the APC candidate, who is from Askira/Uba, Hon Tarpaya Asarya, winning eight out of the 13 wards in Askira/Uba and polled a total of 13,645 votes against the PDP candidate, Hon Midala, with 11,984 votes. In Hawul, the home of the PDP candidate, the APC candidate only managed to win one out of the 12 wards, pulling a total of 11,729 votes while the PDP candidate pulled a total of 16,219 votes to defeat the APC candidate with a lead of over 2,820 votes altogether.
