Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, has debunked insinuations making the rounds that he is to be the running mate to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar for the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Wike denied that no such agreement has been reached between him and any politician, for that matter.
The governor made the clarification while speking during a stakeholders’ meeting of the Rivers State chapter of the PDP, which held at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
He said that at the appropriate time, members of the PDP in the Southern region will speak with one voice about their decision on the 2023 presidential election.
He also spoke about the chances of the PDP in retaining the Rivers State governorship seat, and his administration’s recent efforts to recover some critical assets of the state.
In attendance at the stakeholders’ meeting were party executives, members of both national and state Assemblies, local government chairmen, cabinet members, and other high-ranking members of the party.
