The 2021 membership registration of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, has come under uncertainty, following the disappearance of the official website of the association.
Our correspondent reports that the official website of the association, www.swannational.com, has seized to function, throwing its members, who made attempts to visit the site to effect their annual registration into a panic.
Investigations revealed that the national website of the sports writers no longer exists, as online search states that the domain name and host have expired
CompassNG gathered that further online search conducted on swannational.com now displays “Team Canada. Hotel network, the national lottery, and national league.
Other data messages generated from the online search about the association that was conducted on Tuesday by 4.48 pm via the search for swannational on info, net, and org said “SWAN national is your first and best service.”
Further, the search said “Society of Women Accountants of Nigeria, SWAN.”
Hundreds of members of the association, who trooped to the website have continued to express dismay over the shabby manner the membership issues are handled by the national leadership of the association.
Efforts to get top officials of the association in the North West zone to comment on the matters proved futile
The former secretary of Sports Without Borders, SWB, sports watchdog association, Comrade Moses Owoyele, describe the situation as mesmerizing and critical.
Owoyele said, “It is an ignominy that SWAN that collects dues for identity cards from its members can not run a functional website for such purpose in this era of digital journalism. How can SWAN now hold the Nigeria sports sector accountable for the worrisome ongoing misdeeds?”
